Projects

Link from Minish Cap - Rusty's newest Nintendo Power magazine has the cutest picture of Link in it, and I decided to take a crack at recreating it. The drawing is on 12x15 watercolor paper and is done in black ink and then painted with watercolors.
Anime Karen - Updated - I'm almost finished with this thing. Just trying to finish the background and clean up some stuff. I've definitely gotten a lot better at using Illustrator because of this.
Lighthouse - Updated - I found the final version. Yay!
Lighthouse - I did this 'painting' in Photoshop 7.0 for my grandparents 65th (I think) wedding anniversary this year. This isn't the final version, I did finish the rocks, but sadly I haven't been able to locate the file. This'll teach me not to be disorganized, I guess.
Century Tower - This is part of a sign I made for the UF Solar Energy and Energy Conversion Laboratory (SEECL) for a dedication ceremony in January 2003. They were designated as a Heritage site by ASME International, and I designed this nifty sign for the front of the podium they were speaking from. It was done in Illustrator 10 and Photoshop 7.0
Nanami - Nanami is a character in the Anime "The Revolutionary Girl Utena". I decided to do a fan art of her on a whim one day soon after I got my Intuos tablet last Christmas. I was so happy with my sketch that I went ahead and 'inked' it in Illustrator and then colored it in in Photoshop. I'm very proud of this drawing, lots of effort went in to it.

Drawing Jams - Contains Nudity

Drawing Jam-March 5th, 2005 - The model in the photograph was laying on one of those inflatable chairs. Very odd, but I like how the sketch came out.
Drawing Jam-Arnold - There are almost never Jams of male subjects, but one time they chose a certain famous California Governor and here he is. Never quite finished this sketch though.
Drawing Jam-Attempting Pastels - Yikes. I tried pastels here and was not too happy with the result.
Drawing Jam-Girl on Table - I am happy with how this sketch came out. I like the reflection on the table, and the drapes.
Drawing Jam-Girl with Snake and Apple - I don't think the photo reference had the snake or apple, but I guess I thought it made it more interesting. This one is from 2003.
Girl on Mat - This sketch is at least a year old, I just never got around to scanning it. It's pencil on paper and it was of a Drawing Jam model which doesn't exist on the Drawingboard website anymore.
Haughty - This is the result of one of Shange G Lines' Drawing Jams. The model was posed this way, and I decided to go for an illustrated advertisement sort of look. Pretty happy with the result, although I wish I had done it in Illustrator rather than Photoshop.
Figures Interacting - Another drawing jam. This one was of two women leaning on each other. This was a quick sketch, probably only spent about 2 hours total on it, but I think the lines look nice. I hate the background though.

Quick Sketches

George and Kramer - A couple of sketches I did while watching an episode of Seinfeld.
Old-Movie-Actress 1 Old-Movie-Actress 2 Old-Movie-Actress 3 Old-Movie-Actress 4 - The other night I watched clips from an old hindi movie that was on the international channel. These sketches are all of the same woman, but you can't really tell from the way my drawings came out. It was a lot of fun though.
Close-up of Singer - A quick drawing I did of the singer in a really goofy hindi music video I saw on Namaste America. The guy in the video made me giggle.
Spooky Little Girl - Just a quick sketch of a creepy little girl that I am working on in Illustrator. She's walking a dog (but I haven't gotten to that part of the sketch yet), and just looking odd. Maybe I'll make it into a t-shirt when I'm done.
Caricature of George W Bush - Another quick caricature, this time of our president. About the same overall time as my last one, but I think I'm getting a bit better at coloring. These quick projects are really fun!
Caricature of Janeane Garofalo - A quick caricature sketch of Jeaneane Garafalo. Probably about 5-10 minutes to sketch, and between 30 minutes to an hour to color. It was fun. Maybe I'll do a better job coloring later.
Self Portrait - A crappity attempt at a self portrait. I see a lot of things wrong with this drawing, but I thought I'd post it anyway since it's different than the rest of the stuff here.

Anime Karen - A few months ago I was over at a friend's house playing D&D, and I did this sketch of one of our fellow gamers. Karen has just recently gotten married, and is soon leaving for a year in Japan teaching English. I'm trying to get this picture colored in Illustrator before she leaves for her trip. So far I've got all of the lines done for Karen, but the chair is still just pencilled in.
Sphere - My first attempt at realistic painting in Photoshop. I was trying to render light and shadow on a sphere. I've still got a lot of work to do before I'm any good at this, but it was a fun experiment.
Early Character Sketch (Lucan) - A preliminary character sketch of one of the main characters for the manga that Rusty and I would like to produce at some point. So far we just have some neat ideas, I hope to get more down on the sketch pad once I finish my work on Anime Karen.

Anime Lisa - An anime version of one of my college roomates. A very quick sketch, but I love how it came out.
